Well the numbers are in and the new council and mayor have been chosen. Really, really poor voter turnout and fewer women on council are disappointing, but an overall younger and more progressive council this time around is a plus.

Yes, I made up a word, Gouge-y. That’s how I would describe the Ontario Liberal Party though. They are gougey, and we are all stuck between them and the rocky road PC’s. I don’t know who I’ll vote for on June 12, but I can tell you I won’t be excited about my selection.

Poor Hudak can’t seem to get traction this time around. Between botched photo ops, subway altercation/apologies and announcing the destruction of thousands of jobs, he’s got a lot of ground to cover and less and less time to cover it.

I spend a fair amount of time criticizing our local council. Not that they don’t deserve criticism, but it should also be noted they have a tough job, and it is doubtful that they will please everyone with the decisions they make. As I see friends and acquaintances sending in papers to run for council in the upcoming election this fall. I wish them the best of luck, and I’ll see them in the funny papers.
